Great Pictures From Minnesota

We held our monthly bird banding session at the Lowry Nature Center in Carver Park Reserve near Victoria Minnesota and in spite of the cool weather and the over cast skies and the threat of rain early in the morning we had a pretty good day. My friend Amber passed along some beautiful pictures from this morning and I thought I'd share them with everyone.

This is a female Eastern Phoebe who was getting ready to lay an egg so we got her back to the woods quickly

One of 3 cardinals we handled this morning

First of the year Field Sparrow for me. There seemed to be a good number around

Alway fun to have a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in the hand

Tomorrow it's off to Wisconsin to do some more banding and see if anything new has arrived overnight. We still haven't caught our first Yellow-rumped Warbler of the spring but I have a good feeling about our chances on Sunday.

If you'd like to see the totals for our banding session today you can check out the North Central Bird Observatory website.
