I had the great pleasure today of banding a Chestnut-sided Warbler that ran into one of our school windows today. A couple of seniors came walking up to me with a bird in the hand that, much to my surprise, was still alive. I got him into a cardboard box for a little quiet and by lunch he was fully recovered. I banded him with a few of my students in attendance and we all watched as he flew away to the top of the nearest cottonwood tree. Not only did my students get a nice surprise experience but I must say I'm feeling pretty proud of myself.
Here's hoping that bird #2150-60355 crosses my path again someday.
